Rules of the Hilo game
One of the common strengths of mini-games is the simplicity of the rules. Hilo is no exception to this rule. The aim of the game is based on chance, but some thought is required.
As with most casino games, the first step is to place your bet. The amount can be changed using the “+” or “-” buttons. The minimum bet is $0.10 and the maximum is $100.
Once the bet is set, you can click on the “bet” button and start the game. The player must draw a card of his choice. The player must then guess whether the next card revealed, from a choice of 3 cards, will be higher/equal or lower/equal to his own.
Several levels of risk can be taken during the game. It depends on the player’s choice of card drawn, and his or her bet in front of the cards dealt by the dealer, which are face up.
If the player wins his bet, he has two choices: he can continue and win more money. When the player wins several games in a row, the winnings are increased. Or he can cash in his winnings. If the player fails, the game ends and a new one begins.
What are the player’s choices?
Low or Same
The player here thinks that the card he has chosen is lower or equal to the face-down card. He finds two buttons at the bottom of the 3 cards: “Low or Same” and “High or Same”. The game odds are shown at the bottom of these two boxes.
If the player has drawn a low card, the odds associated with “low or same” will be higher. The player can take this risk and try to win big, or play it safe and choose the “high or same” option.
High or Same
Here, the player decides to bet on a card that is higher or equal to their own. This is either because the player’s card is “low” and they think the mystery card will be higher, or because they have a “high” card and want to take a risk to win more.
Drawing the Hilo Cards
As mentioned earlier in this article, the player draws a card. He can change it if it does not suit him. Once he has chosen this card, he will choose one more card among 3 face down cards. This is random, but a strategy can be adapted to the player’s first card choice.
If the player is a beginner, it is easier to start with a weak or strong card, which simplifies the choice of the bet. If it is strong, he will bet on a weaker face-down card, and if he has a weak card, he will choose a stronger face-down card.
Strategies to know about Hilo
As we mentioned earlier in the article, this is a game of chance, but it is possible to establish some strategies to try to win.
Here we have established some of them depending on the player’s profile:
If the player is a beginner
He may prefer safety by choosing a very weak or very strong card at the beginning. It will then be easy to guess if the card turned over is above or below the player’s card. But of course, the winnings are less important. This strategy can help to get the hand before taking more risks.
If the player is reckless
He can choose a weak or strong card, and bet on whether the card turned over is even weaker or stronger than his own. The odds are low to win, but the odds are much more enticing. In case of a win, the winnings will be larger.
If the player is observant
He can opt for a strategy of counting cards (count). By observing the ones that fall most often, he can get an idea of the next cards to come
The Hilo Game Payout Ratio
A game’s payout ratio, or RTP, is the percentage of winnings that the casino pays out to players. The higher the payout ratio, the more likely the player is to choose the game. With an RTP of 97%, Hilo has a nice payout ratio, when the average is around 96%.
