How Gift Grabber Works
The game features a 6×5 grid – six columns and five rows – with no traditional paylines. Wins are formed by clusters of at least 5 identical symbols connected in any direction on the grid (the “Cluster Pays” system). When a winning combination occurs, the winning symbols are removed, and new ones fall from above to fill the empty spaces; this is the “Super Cascades” mechanic, which can trigger consecutive wins within a single spin.
The low-value symbols consist of the card-style characters 10, J, Q, K, and A, all of which share the same payout structure: a cluster of 5 is worth 0.1x the bet, 6 is worth 0.2x, 7 is worth 0.3x, 8–9 are worth 0.5x, 10–11 are worth 2x, and 12 or more are worth 10x the bet.
The five high-value symbols are Christmas toys: the blue bauble and the drum are the lowest-valued among these, offering payouts of up to 25x the bet for a cluster of 12 or more symbols, while the rocking horse and the golden bells offer up to 50x. The top-tier symbol is the toy soldier, which is worth up to 100x the bet for a cluster of 12 or more.
The Wild symbol substitutes for all other symbols listed in the paytable.
Bonus Features and Special Symbols
Gift Grabber builds its reward system around a chain of special symbols that activate in sequence. The trigger mechanism consists of Golden Squares.
Golden Squares
Every winning combination leaves behind highlighted spaces on the grid, known as Golden Squares. These do not reset between cascades; instead, they accumulate throughout the entire sequence of cascades within a single spin. When a Rainbow symbol lands – after all standard wins have been collected – it activates the Golden Squares, revealing Special Symbols: Coins, Four-Leaf Clovers, Santa’s Sacks, or Santa’s Global Sacks.
Rainbow and Epic Rainbow
The Rainbow symbol activates the Golden Squares in adjacent positions. The Epic Rainbow symbol is more powerful: it reveals Special Symbols in every position on the grid simultaneously. The activation process is identical for both.
Coins
Coins represent cash prizes expressed as multiples of the bet, categorized into four tiers:
- Bronze: 0.2x, 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 3x, or 4x the bet.
- Silver: 5x, 10x, 15x, or 20x the bet.
- Gold: 25x, 50x, or 100x the bet.
- Diamond: 150x, 250x, or 500x the bet.
Multiplier Four-Leaf Clovers
The Green Four-Leaf Clover applies a multiplier – chosen from x2, x3, x4, x5, x10, or x20 – to any Coins and Sacks located in adjacent spaces. The Golden Four-Leaf Clover applies the same type of multiplier to all Special Symbols present across the entire grid. If there are no Special Symbols in the relevant positions at the moment of activation, the Four-Leaf Clover waits for them to appear.
Santa’s Sacks
Santa’s Sack collects the values of all Coins and other Sacks located in adjacent spaces within a 3×3 area and stores their total value.
Santa’s Global Sack functions in the same way, but across the entire grid. The Sacks activate from top to bottom, left to right – the order matters, as each activation reveals new Special Symbols within the remaining Golden Spaces. Once all activations are complete, the values from the Coins and Sacks are added together and multiplied by the bet amount to determine the final payout.
Bonus Games
The bonus is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 FS (Free Spins) scatter symbols simultaneously during the main game.
- Naughty by Night (3 FS): 10 free spins featuring progressive Golden Spaces that remain highlighted until activated by a Rainbow. It also includes a Gift Bar that upgrades Rainbow symbols as you advance through the levels.
- Sticky Fingers (4 FS): 10 free spins that retain all the mechanics of Naughty by Night, with the difference that Golden Spaces remain highlighted even after being activated by an Epic Rainbow.
- Christmas Cave Rave (5 FS, Hidden Epic Bonus): 10 free spins where the Gift Bar starts directly at Level 4. FS symbols cannot land during this bonus.
The Gift Bar advances by one level for every 5 FS symbols that land during the bonus, awarding 5 additional free spins and transforming Rainbow symbols into increasingly powerful Special Symbols:
- Level 1: The Rainbow transforms into a Green Four-Leaf Clover.
- Level 2: The Rainbow transforms into Santa’s Global Sack.
- Level 3: The Rainbow transforms into a Golden Four-Leaf Clover.
- Level 4: A Rainbow or Epic Rainbow is guaranteed on every free spin. Upon activation, it transforms into a Golden Four-Leaf Clover.

Le Gift Grabber Put to the Test
Le Gift Grabber inherits the DNA of Hacksaw Gaming’s Smokey series: a 6×5 grid, cluster pays, “Super Cascades,” and the “Golden Squares” system, which activates whenever Rainbows land. Players familiar with Le Santa or Le Bandit will immediately recognize the gameplay loop. There are two structural differences compared to previous titles in the series: the Epic Rainbow covers the entire grid rather than just affecting adjacent positions, and the Global Sack collects values from every corner of the grid instead of from a 3×3 area. On paper, these are the two mechanisms that can most significantly amplify bonus activation sequences.
With medium volatility and a hit frequency of 42.09%, the base game shouldn’t go through long dry spells. The first thing I check in demo mode is the actual frequency of Rainbows during the standard game, and how quickly the Golden Tiles accumulate before a chain reaction. In a structure like this, the difference between a slot that builds tension and one that feels sluggish comes down to that single number.
The “Buy Feature” system, offering five distinct options, is among the most sophisticated by industry standards – ranging from the 3x “BonusHunt” (which increases the odds of triggering a bonus without leaving the base game) to the 500x “Chimney Epic Drop” (which guarantees an “Epic Rainbow” on every spin). We’ll examine which option offers the best value and how the game’s pacing shifts in each mode once we’ve put it to the test. As always, remember that the theoretical max win of 15,000x is a statistical upper limit, not a guarantee. Only play with an amount you can afford to lose.
