The Great Bear vs. 3 other IGT slots

Paytable

The symbols in the game represent a wide variety of animal species from the region: the bear, the wolf, the Canada lynx, the eagle, the owl, the raccoon, the rabbit, the rodent and the salmon.

The bear is a wild symbol capable of substituting for all symbols except the bonus symbol represented by the bear paw.
The Bear Paw is a bonus symbol that can activate the Great Bear Bonus if you find 3 of them on reels 2, 3 and 4 of the game.

Features

Symbol Climb Feature

Triggered after a win, the symbols involved can be upgraded to a stronger symbol. All symbols matching the upgraded symbol on the reels will be upgraded in turn. Wins will be evaluated after the symbol upgrade is complete.

Gift of the Great Bear Feature

When this feature activates, the bear can step in and cause an extension of the Symbol Climb feature to further enhance the winning symbols and attempt to lead them to the final Wild symbol at the top.

In a random spin, some symbols may be chosen to be upgraded into stronger ones.

Great Bear Multiplier Feature

Triggered at the end of a winning spin with a combination of 5 Wilds, each Wild in the center of the screen can be upgraded to contain a x2, x3, x5 or x10 win multiplier. Winnings involved with the Wild multiplier will be multiplied by the corresponding multiplier.

Great Bear Bonus

The bonus is activated with 3 Scatter symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 of the Great Bear slot. By triggering this bonus, you will get free spins with the guarantee of winning 5 times. The spins continue until you have won 5 times and the Symbol Climb feature that enhances the symbols persists until the bonus ends. This means that symbols that have been upgraded can no longer appear on the screen and only the best symbols that have not yet been upgraded continue to appear.

Overall

IGT’s Great Bear slot offers a new and exciting environment and takes us through the sublime landscapes of Canada, but that’s not the only interesting thing we notice here as the game’s features are pretty well thought out to grab the player’s attention. The Symbol Climb feature is a real asset to turn a weak winning combination into something more solid. Similarly, the Wild multiplier can further enhance the win. During the free spins, it’s even better with the persistent feature that allows the upgrades to never reset from one spin to the next, so it’s easy to end the bonus with a full screen of Wilds that can be coupled with a x10 multiplier. This way you can easily hit big prizes at the end of the bonus.
