How do you play Starburst Galaxy?

When you open Starburst Galaxy, you see a 5-by-5 playing field. In it, you try to get three or more matching symbols horizontally or vertically next to each other. Just like in Match 3 games such as Candy Crush. For each chance, you pay a minimum of $0.20 and a maximum of $28.

The seven different symbols are back, meaning you play with five gems, 7 and BAR. Payouts run from 0.25 to 1 times your bet for 3. A full row of 5 earns 2 to 20 times your bet. And when you see 7 of the same symbols next to each other during the bonus, that gives as much as 10 to 250 times your bet. After forming such a combination, all used symbols disappear. Were it only regular symbols, a Wild remains in the middle. After that, an Avalanche triggers. So you will get new symbols from above and hopefully form one or more combinations again.

It gets really fun when you can also unlock the last feature. Then two things happen. Your playing area is increased to 7 by 7 and you get a Galaxy Star. This is a 3×3 Wild symbol somewhere at random. After using this, it explodes into another 4 to 8 Wilds.

Our opinion

If you think Starburst Galaxy like Starburst XXXtreme is almost a copy of the popular slot machine, NetEnt will surprise you. They have turned the entire gameplay on its head. We would even dare to say that this looks more like a Play’n GO slot than one from NetEnt. In fact, the Match 3 pay mechanism that leaves a Wild behind is something they use often. For NetEnt, it is the first time to use this principle. And even Cluster or Scatter Pays slots they don’t make very much. If you do not expect to simply play a sequel to Starburst, then it is certainly an enjoyable game. The problem, of course, is that the name creates expectations for players. And those are not fulfilled.
