In an announcement sent out to its customers, Mansion Group informed that it is going to shut down the MansionBet brand from March 31.
The other brands – casino.com, Slots Heaven, and Mansion Casino will continue to operate in the UK and the other regulated markets as usual. The operator elaborated that it has decided to expand its footprint in other markets including Spain and Canada as Ontario opens up its market for international operators from April 2022.
All bets that are ruled to be winners before April 2023 will be honored, but from March 31st onward, players will not be able to place bets, make deposits, and cash out open bets.
Players will be able to cash out their winnings until April 28, 2022. Those who would like to request a withdrawal beyond that date, have to get in touch with Mansion's customer support. Also, after April 28th, customers will receive their stake back if an open bet has not been settled.
MansionBet might not be the biggest bookmaker in the UK, but it is the sponsor of many sports events. However, it turned out difficult to resist the competition of industry veterans such as William Hill and bet365 and cover the expenses of running a sportsbook.
According to industry analysts, Mansion Group's decision was difficult to take, and yet unsurprising. On the contrary, there is a growing trend for small bookmakers struggling to stay afloat and shutting down before the UK gambling reform. The latter is coming spring 2022 and expectations are that UK operators will have to comply with even tighter regulations.
